Comedian and actor Jason Manford will host this year’s Olivier Awards with Mastercard. The 2017 awards are set to be the biggest yet, as they make their debut at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April.
Jason Manford is an award-winning comedian, broadcaster and actor. His stage credits include the multi Olivier Award-winning production of Sweeney Todd, as well as the UK tours of The Producers and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Manford said:
"Hosting the Oliviers is the closest I’m going to get to getting one! It’s such a huge honour to be hosting this prestigious and exciting event and I can’t wait to do it.”
The awards will be broadcast in the UK and worldwide via ITV, Magic and Facebook. Scheduling will be announced shortly.
Groundhog Day leads the musical theatre field in the list of nominations for this year’s Awards.The well-received show which makes its Broadway debut later this month picked up nominations in eight categories including a nod for leading man Andy Karl in the Best Actor in a Musical category and the Mastercard Award for Best New Musical, in which it is up against fellow nominees Dreamgirls, School Of Rock and The Girls.
