Samantha Jane Barks (born 2 October 1990) is a Manx actress and singer who has notably performed both on stage and screen as well as television. She first rose to fame after coming third in the BBC talent show–themed television series I'd Do Anything in 2008. She made her West End debut as Eponine in Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre in 2010. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_Barks) In 2012, she starred alongside Jonathan Bailey in the Disney Channel series Groove High and made her film debut as Éponine in the 2012 film version of the long-running musical Les Misérables. For the film, Barks received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture, and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Acting Ensemble. As well, she won the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer and shared in the National Board of Review Award for Best Cast.
Her musical theatre credits include Elsa in the West End premiere of Frozen, the title role in Pretty Woman on Broadway, Cabaret, Les Miserables, Oliver!, Amelie, The Last Five Years and Honeynoon in Vegas.
Her film credits include The Christmas Candle, Bitter Harvest and Interlude In Prague.
Barks' new solo album 'Samantha Barks' is out now, available from HMV stores or online on her official website samanthabarks.co.uk or on Amazon. She embarked on her first solo tour in June 2016, performing in 13 different venues around the UK and one special homecoming show at the Gaiety Theatre, Isle of Man, where she performed in shows as a teenager.
