What's the number one thing Wicked fans ask Rachel Tucker? If she could only sing one song ever again, which would it be? How long has she been performing cabaret (spoiler: since the age of 9)? This interview with Broadway.com's Paul Wontorek with our #featured performer Rachel Tucker is a must-watch. He catches up with Broadway and West End star ahead of her return live concerts at New York's Feinstein's/54 Below this week... (Have you entered our competition yet?)
"I love shaking my hair down, getting fun... It's the hoops, the gold, the bling."
Other highlights we love from this #LiveAtFive interview in the Broadway.com studios:
- What to expect in this latest concert show: a mix of modern musical theatre, rock, pop, jazz, blues... and a special guest
- It's ten years since Rachel and Samantha Barks had that sing-off (and the Lord chose Barks, now in Broadway's Pretty Woman) on the BBC's I'd Do Anything
- What happens when a bunch of Elphabas get together (a Wicked hug)
- Rachel recently did her TV role, playing Paddy Considine's 'bit on the side', and filmed her first sex scene (she hated it). Informer is out this autumn on BBC One (watch the trailer below)
- Sting has his own wine on the menu at Feinstein's/54 Below
- Her Desert Island song to sing is "Where Is Love" from Oliver! - nothing to do with losing the role of Nancy in I'd Do Anything to Jodie Prenger, it makes Rachel think of her son
- Rachel has some very very exciting news to tell us soon, something big is on the horizon. Can you guess what it is?
Enter our competition by Thursday 9 August
In New York next week? You could win tickets to see Rachel Tucker perform this and other spine-tingling standards live at Feinstein's/54 Below. Not in New York next week? We've also got signed copies of her latest solo album to give away...
Who else can you spot in Informer?
Informer is a contemporary thriller about Raza, a young, second-generation Pakistani man from East London (Nabhaan Rizwan) who is coerced by Gabe, a counter-terrorism officer (Paddy Considine) to go undercover and inform for him. Also in the cast of great British acting talent are Bel Powley, Jessica Raine, Emily Taaffe and fellow #StageFaves Sharon D Clarke and Arinze Kene as well as Rachel Tucker in her television debut. It airs on BBC One this autumn.
