In the world of theatrical performers, Ramin Karimloo is known as one of the most formidable talents in the industry. Heralded for his portrayal of leading roles Jean Valjean in Les Mirerables and the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Karimloo is a musical force unlike any other. In fact, it was his unbridaled reputation that led to his performance in the recent Oscar tribute to Les Misérables.
Iranian-born, Canadian actor, singer Ramin is recognized as the favorite leading man to perform in London's West End Musical Theatre by whatsonstage.com. Ramin has played starring roles in both of the West End's longest running musicals; Jean Valjean, Enjolras and Marius in Les Misérables and the Phantom and Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera.
Ramin was hand picked by Andrew Lloyd Webber to portray the lead role in his sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies. He originated the role of Phantom in this sequel, a role that won him the prestigious Theatregoer’s Choice Award and the Broadwayworld.com award for Best Actor in a musical.
In 2011, Ramin played The Phantom for three performances alongside Love Never Dies co-star Sierra Boggess in the unique “25th Anniversary Production of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall”, that was streamed live to cinemas across the world, providing an even larger stage for this theatrical superstar’s talent. Additionally, he performed the title song, Music Of The Night, during the Broadway 25th Anniversary of Phantom of the Opera.
Ramin also played the role of Enjolras in the “25th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables” at The O2 Arena in London where it has been one of the most widely viewed shows in history.
His other musical theatre credits include Murder Ballad, Miss Saigon, Zorro - The Musical, Pirates of Penzance, Simply Barbara, Grease, Anything Goes and Bye Bye Birdie.

He started season 3 so Ramin found it fitting for him to end season 3 too and thus welcome Andrew Kober back yet again. In this episode, they dive into some incredibly moving topics such as Kober's funny looking electric scooter, Andrew's amazing new workshop that he can't talk about, about how he couldn't survive more than a few days if stranded on a desert island, but most importantly how to pronounce "Cabaret"... you know, real life-changing topics. There's also some intros and questions provided by ChatGPT. Thanks, AI. Visit http://bpn.fm/thehang for more episodes and information. This smooth talker hails from South Africa, where he dove deep into the musical theater world. He may be best known for his role as the Phantom in several productions of The Phantom of the Opera, including the world tour. He also played Che in the international tour of Evita, and is otherwise just an all around great guy. He and Ramin share a few words of advice for each other before ending on the much anticipated, soon-to-open reimagined version of Phantom coming to Italy this summer. Alan Markley and Sergio Ortega are Ramin's bandmates who comprise "Ramin Karimloo and The Broadgrass Band". Broadgrass's unique trademark is an earthy sound which organically developed over time. Little did he know, but Ramin often warms up to music sung by Laird Mackintosh. Ramin used to stage door in Canada and met Laird a long time ago when, by chance, Laird asked Ramin to hang after a show! Laird made his Broadway debut in 2011 in the role of George Banks in Mary Poppins at the New Amsterdam Theater in New York City and 2013 he played John Utterson in the Broadway production of Wildhorn's Jekyll and Hyde. Mackintosh began his career as a dancer in the National Ballet of Canada (1990-1992). He performed with Toronto's Opera Atelier between 1997 and 2002. In 2002, Mackintosh joined the company of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival appearing as Freddy Eynesford-Hill in My Fair Lady. He remained with the company for eight seasons, playing many leading roles. He has also played Robert in The Drowsy Chaperone (Vancouver), Phil Davis in White Christmas (Halifax), Prince Charming in Ross Petty's Cinderella (Toronto), Gustl in The Land of Smiles and Algernon Moncrieff in Earnest, the Importance of Being (Toronto Operetta Theatre). Rach was born and raised in a military town on the east coast of North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Art and Vocal Performance from UNC Chapel Hill, where her professional career began with PlayMakers Repertory Company. After graduation she made the move to New York, and in May of 2019 graduated with her Master of Fine Arts in Acting degree from The New School for Drama. Since graduating she has had the chance to perform Off-Broadway in shows like 'Rabbit Hole', and with companies like Engarde Arts. She has also worked with many talented filmmakers in shorts and features. Rachael is also a writer, and it is one of the great loves of her life. She now has her first comedy pilot, 'Between Us,' in the works with a talented cast including a grammy nominated artist, and WKRP in Cincinnati's Tim Reid. Her pilot was just selected as a finalist in the Vancouver International Women In Film Festival taking place this March. Moving to this city six years ago was the best decision she's ever made. Since graduating with her masters, she has picked up a bomb-ass team, and found her niche writing whatever the fu*k she wants. She has surrounded herself with an amazing tribe of creators, and gets to play pretend for a living. Turns out, she was made to be a New Yorker, but will always keep a little bit of that southern accent. What it all boils down to: "I want to do good plays and drink good wine with good people." It's the return of #KoberLoo! This episode is a special threesome hang with Will Swenson, Andrew Kober, and Ramin. Get more information about The Hang via http://bpn.fm/thehang. Will Swenson is currently starring as Neil Diamond (Then) in A Beautiful Noise, on Broadway. He is known as one of Broadway’s most versatile leading men and has been seen on Broadway in roles across a wide character spectrum. Will received critical acclaim for his performance as the subversive hippie Berger in the 2009 revival of Hair for which he received Tony, Drama Desk and Drama League Nominations. He went on to perform the role in London’s West End as well. He starred as Inspector Javert in the 2014 revival of Les Miserables, which gave him the (mis)fortune of becoming bestieas with Ramin and Andrew. He played the conflicted drag queen Tick in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, (Drama League Nomination). In Waitress Will performed opposite the show’s creator Sara Bareilles. Other Broadway: Disaster!, Lestat, Brooklyn: The Musical, and his sentimental favorite 110 in the Shade: the production where he met his wife, actress Audra McDonald. Will played Philo Barnum in the movie musical “The Greatest Showman”, and can be seen in the feature films “This is Where I Leave You”, “The Kitchen” and “The Switch”. Will spent a season on the Netflix series “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” as the evil Professor Carcosa. He played opposite his wife in the Covid/Zombie thriller series “The Bite”. He has guest-starred on “Law & Order (SVU & CSI)”, “The Good Wife”, “No Tomorrow”, and “The Code.” He played Henry Donnenfeld on the Netflix crime drama series “Hit and Run”, and later this year will be seen as the father of the Vampire clan The Fairmont’s in the new Netflix drama “First Kill”. Some of Will’s earliest memories involve listening to his Dad’s 8-track copy of “Hot August Night”. Will can’t remember not having most of Neil Diamond’s songs permanently imprinted on his brain. And he’s super happy about that. Oh, and Neil Diamond gave Will one of his guitars. An actual Neil Diamond guitar. WHAT!? Interested in your own phone "dongle" ? This episode contains language and topics that may not be suitable for younger listeners. Listener discretion is advised. An Iranian/American actor, writer and activist, Pooya was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, based in New York City. She moved to New York in her teens, where she studied design at Fashion Institute of Technology, and after joining the FIT theatre ensemble, she discovered her love of acting and story telling. She is a graduate from the esteemed Maggie Flanigan Studio. She seeks stories that speak to her, with rich, three dimensional characters, good and bad, while exploring their humanity and fragility. She's fluent in Persian(Farsi), a Transgender advocate, as well as a voice for immigrants’ and women’s issues in addition to writing and co-writing original LGBT stories to shed light on an otherwise under represented community. Andrew Kober is (still) an American actor who has worked in many musicals, most recently in the phenomenal Beetlejuice, the Musical (check out season 1 for my first interview with Andrew). After closing Beetlejuice, he spends most of his time at home wondering how Rob McClure commutes from Philadelphia to NYC to perform all the time, or playing with his new drone that his wife bought him. He's got an incredible new project he's working on that is not The Notebook (don't worry, he never tells us because he signed a NDA), and is ultimately afraid of how high up I live in the cast housing provided by the Funny Girl production. Be sure to follow Andrew on IG via @andrewkober and find more info about The Hang via http://bpn.fm/TheHang. Produced by Alan Seales and Broadway Podcast Network.
