Another must-watch for musical theatre fans. Andrew Lloyd Webber is giving you an unmissable opportunity to see the spectacular 25th-anniversary Royal Albert Hall staging of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for free... for 24 hours only!

Following the success of initial lockdown broadcasts of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar, the streaming schedule for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s free-to-view YouTube Channel The Shows Must Go On, will continue this Friday with a broadcast of his blockbuster hit The Phantom of the Opera.

From 7pm this Friday 17 April 2020, fans can watch for free – though this week’s offer will only be available for 24 hours in the UK so Friday night or Saturday matinee viewing is advised.

The Phantom of the Opera, first opened at London’s Her Majesty’s Theatre in 1986, is the West End’s second-longest-running musical (after Les Miserables). It opened in 1988 in New York, where it continues to run and is the longest-running show in Broadway history

Friday’s screening will be of the special 25th-anniversary version filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011 and starring Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom and Sierra Boggess as his ingenue Christine Daae.

In celebration of the show’s milestone birthday, Cameron Mackintosh produced this unique, spectacular staging of the musical on a scale which had never been seen before. Inspired by the original staging by Hal Prince and Gillian Lynne, this lavish, fully-staged production set in the sumptuous Victorian splendour of London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall features a cast and orchestra of over 200, plus some very special guest appearances, including original stars Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman.

The Shows Must Go On YouTube channel provides musical theatre lovers with a West End and Broadway experience in their own homes, online for free during the coronavirus crisis while theatres around the world are dark. Alongside the full-length shows, clips of famous performances and behind-the-scenes footage are uploaded regularly to the channel. Further productions are to be announced.

And we're all standing by for 'disaster' musical By Jeeves to air!
