It's nearly time for the Olivier Awards and this year, the leader of the pack is HAMILTON with a record 13 nominations! Having already taken home the Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the London production is expected to pull in some big wins.
We can't wait for Sunday to come around but for now, we have to "wait for it" - so to help you out during this Hump Day, we've pulled together a bunch of footage from the 2016 Tony Awards, where HAMILTON took home a whopping 11 awards!
Let's start at the very beginning shall we? The HAMILTON cast opened the show with a reworked version of their opening number "Alexander Hamilton" (Which, by the way, is also our song of the week!) introducing host James Corden.
Onto the fabulous actors and actresses who blew us all away in the Original Broadway Cast. Leslie Odom Jr. took home Best Lead Actor in a Musical while Daveed Diggs and Renee Elise Goldsberry took home Best Featured Actor and Actress in a musical respectively.
Now onto the musical itself.
HAMILTON won:
Best Director of a Musical (Thomas Kail), Best Score, Best Book of a Musical Best Choreography Best Orchestrations Best Lighting Design of a Musical Best Costumer Design of a Musical and of course, Best Musical.
Here are some of our favourite videos from Lin-Manuel Miranda and the HAMILTON cast during the ceremony...
Now, let's end this blog of Tony Award epicness with an even MORE epic video. The cast performed the entirety of "Yorktown" and yes - it is truly amazing!
PS. Actually this ending is awesome too - especially as they're all in their black tie and gowns! - You're welcome...
