StageFaves teamed up with The Hope Theatre and our sister website MyTheatreMates.com today to exclusively announce the stars of the theatre's upcoming 25th anniversary revival of Bryony Lavery‘s bodice-ripping gay musical comedy HER ACHING HEART. Watch our rough-and-ready video with artistic director Matthew Parker and co-producer Andrea Leoncini (the upside-down moment is priceless!)...
The Hope Theatre upcoming 25th anniversary revival of Bryony Lavery‘s bodice-ripping musical comedy HER ACHING HEART has a strictly limited run from 29 November to 23 December 2016, as part of the just-launched Gothic Season.
Colette Eaton and Naomi Todd will star as, respectively, Harriet and Molly, two heartbroken women who jump between the pages of the same bonk-busting paperback – and play all the parts between them. Innocent maidens and haughty aristocrats ardently pursue each other through a tempestuous, gothic landscape, replete with murder, elopement and heaving bosoms a-plenty in Lavery’s tongue-in-cheek whirlwind parody.
Bryony Lavery‘s many other stage credits, at the National and elsewhere, include: Treasure Island, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, Beautiful Burnout, A Wedding Story, Stockholm and the multi award-winning play Frozen.
HER ACHING HEART will feature brand-new, original music by Ian Brandon. The production is directed by Hope artistic director Matthew Parker and designed by Rachael Ryan, with lighting by Tom Kitney and sound by Paul Freeman. In a unique partnership for the Hope, the musical is co-produced by LWL Entertainment Ltd, whose recent West End credits include Sid, Savage and The Tailor-Made Man: A New Musical.
We dropped into the Hope this afternoon to talk to Matthew Parker and co-producer Andrea Leoncini from LWL Entertainment about their two new stars – and get a glimpse of the first images for this new production (as above, by photographer Roy Tan)….
