There are 13 musical productions in the 2016 Olivier Awards running, all but three of them still running (or, in the case of Bugsy Malone, soon to be returning). Despite six major nominations, Guys and Dolls went home empty-handed, losing out to its fellow Chichester Festival transfer Gypsy in key categories. Is the lesson that Chichester should only transfer one musical a year? If it wants to win Oliviers, maybe so.

Not forgetting...
While Showstopper! and The Phantom of the Opera "only" took home a single gong apiece, their triumphs represented complete 100% conversion rates as both had single nominations. Therefore, in terms of conversion, they are the most successful musical productions at the 2016 Oliviers.
