Amongst the opening night audience, he rubbed elbows with husband-and-wife West End stars Michael Jibson (an Olivier Award winner for his King George in Hamilton) and Caroline Sheen (just finished in 9 to 5) and with onstage father and daughter stars Andy Nyman and Harriet Bunton. The classic 1964 Broadway musical - with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein - is set in a Jewish shtetl in imperial Russia in 1905 and tells the story of milkman Tevye, his wife and their five daughters. Old traditions and young love collide as Tevye’s daughters’ unexpected choice of husbands opens his heart to new possibilities and his close-knit community also feels the winds of change blowing through their tiny village.
Featuring the iconic score including ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker, Matchmaker’, ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ and ‘If I Were a Rich Man’, and featuring original choreography from Tony award-winning Jerome Robbins alongside new choreography by Matt Cole. A joyous and heart-warming celebration To Life – L’chaim!
