Written and directed by Conor McPherson, with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, Girl From The North Country won two Olivier Awards when it was last in the West End and was an all-round critical hit. Now the show is heading back to the West End, running at the Gielgud Theatre from 10 December 2019 to 1 February 2020, before transferring to Broadway.

After oodles of gossip it’s been confirmed that Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford will reprise their lead roles in the New York City Center and Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Sunday in the Park with George, opening at the Savoy Theatre in June 2020. Art isn’t easy and nor will be getting hold of tickets!

Have you seen the cast for the European premiere of Falsettos? It’s looking pretty awesome with Natasha J Barnes, Daniel Boys, Matt Cardle, Gemma Knight-Jones, Laura Pitt-Pulford and Oliver Savile all lined up to star in the award-winning musical at The Other Palace from 30 August to 23 November 2019.
When the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Singin’ in the Rain transferred to the West End in 2012 it went on to be a hit with audiences and receive four Olivier nominations. Now it’s back for a five-week summer season at Sadler’s Wells with Adam Cooper returning to the role of Don Lockwood, made so famous by Gene Kelly in the MGM movie. We think the show will make quite a splash.

Ed Baker-Duly will play Robert to Jenna Russell’s Francesca in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s UK premiere production of The Bridges of Madison County, Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman’s musical adaptation of Robert James Waller’s bestselling novel, directed by Trevor Nunn. Romance is in the air.

Did you hear about who was named the 13th annual Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year (SSSSPOTY) and who took home the 12th annual Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize? Look no further than LAMDA’s Stuart Thompson and composer Theo Jamieson. Not forgetting, runners-up Bird College’s Paige Fenlon and RADA’s Jamie Bogyo.

What a night for the Broadway production of Hadestown at the Tony Awards which celebrated eight wins including a welcome one for female director Rachel Chavkin and acting honours for the show’s André De Shields. Elsewhere, though, there was still room for Tootsie, The Cher Show and Oklahoma! to go home with two Tony Awards each.

Today is going to be a good day and here’s why: An extra ticket release for the West End production of Dear Evan Hansen goes ahead on 10 June 2019 (Pasek and Paul’s Tony Award-winning show begins previews at the Noël Coward Theatre on 29 October) and now fans have a chance to be part of the musical’s distinctive artwork.

He’s best known as Neil Sutherland in the award-winning E4 show The Inbetweeners, but now Blake Harrison is swapping the small screen for the West End production of Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre in what we think is his musical theatre debut, stepping into the role of Ogie on 17 June 2019 after Jack McBrayer plays his final performance.

Your chance to make a date with destiny is just around the corner as tickets go on sale for The Prince of Egypt, Stephen Schwartz and Philip LaZebnik’s new stage musical based on the celebrated DreamWorks Animation film, and details of the creative team are announced. The production opens at London’s Dominion Theatre on 5 February 2020.

Flying into the London production of musical sensation Wicked from 22 July 2019 will be Nikki Bentley and Helen Woolf who will lead the new cast as Elphaba and Glinda, having played the roles on the recent UK and Ireland tour. They will be joined at the Apollo Victoria by Alistair Brammer as Fiyero, Kim Ismay’s Madame Morrible and Idriss Kargbo returns to play Boq. Do you see another visit to Oz in your future?
