Tori Allen-Martin is a performer, writer and producer who founded mutli-award nominated Interval Productions in 2009.
Interval Productions, aim to create new musicals which challenge the medium of traditional ‘musical theatre’. Interval Productions are arguably best known for ‘Streets’ (also co-written by Allen-Martin) which, having been nominated for Off West End Awards for Best New Musical and Most Promising Playwrights, transferred to the Hackney Empire, before receiving Arts Council funding for a run at the Vaults, which gained standing ovations and rave reviews. Another success was ‘Another Way’ (also co-written by Allen-Martin), a British rom-com musical, which was also OFFIE nominated for Best New Musical.
In addition to writing, Tori is also a solo artist. She worked in South Africa with Idris Elba on the ‘mi Mandela’ album and appears on three tracks, she also features in the documentary that was made during the process – ‘Mandela, My Dad and Me’. As well as working in the studio with Elba on her own material, she has been writing with Bless Beats and up and coming Producer Alex Bakker. She has also sessioned for the likes of Fatboy Slim and Jeymes Samuel of ‘The Bullitts’.
Alongside this Tori has independently released her debut (self penned) EP, 'Wasted', which reached number 20 in the singer/songwriter iTunes chart.
As a performer Tori has also performed in large-scale musicals such as Gary Lloyd’s production of Hair in the West End (Help For Heroes Gala) and the European Tour, which included the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam. Tori is passionate about new writing, and as well as writing for her own projects, including Muted, and for commissions, she has originated lead roles in three world premieres of brand new British musicals, including Chelsea in H.R.Haitch, Lauren in After The Turn (nominated for Broadway World Best Reginal or Fringe Musical) and Nono in Yarico, produced by Jodie Kidd at The London Theatre Workshop.
