Sharon Sexton is an Irish actress and singer who originated the role of Slaone in Jim Steinman's 'Bat Out Of Hell', which saw her win the West End Wilma award for best actress in a musical during the show's run in the Dominion Theatre in London's West End. She also toured the UK and Canada with the show.
In 2019, Sharon and Rob Fowler curated and toured the sell-out, award nominated concert series - 'Vision Of You' - whose title comes from the debut album of the same name, recorded and released by the pair in 2018. They are currently working on their follow up album, which will feature some original songs, following their sell out original concerts in London's Crazy Coqs as part of the West End Unplugged Series.
Other credits include: Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! The Musical (UK and International Tour), The Commitments, directed by Jamie Lloyd at the Palace Theatre, Dead Mum (cover) in Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace which saw Sharon nominated for the WOS award for best understudy. 'Liza Minnelli' in the one woman show Somewhere Under The Rainbow which toured throughout Ireland and the UK, and saw Sharon win the best actress award in the IDGTF. Sharon has performed as a soloist on PBS America, playing Shannon in Irish The Musical, in concert, filmed at the Wexford Opera House. She has also appeared as a Soloist with the National Concert Orchestra recorded at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin. In 2016 Sharon toured her self penned one woman play A Fit Wife For A Revolutionary at The London Irish Centre and Smock Alley Theatre Dublin. Other previous roles include 'Conchita' in Copacobana the musical (UK Tour), 'Nancy' in Oliver! (Festival Productions Wexford Opera House, National Concert Hall) 'Collagen' in Anglo The Musical (The Bord Gais Energy Theatre) 'Fairy Godmother' in Cinderella (The Gaiety Theatre) 'Lucy' in Jekyll and Hyde, 'Lily St Regis' in Annie (Festival Productions) 'Reno Sweeney' in Anything Goes (National Concert Hall, Dublin) 'Kate' in Girls Night The Musical (National Tour) 'Surfia' in the comedy musical IKEANO (Olympia Theatre, National Tour), 'Yellow Girl' in Shout The Musical and the title roles in Calamity Jane and Jane Eyre The musical in Ireland. Workshop Credits include Angela in Angela's Ashes The Musical, Norah in Himself and Norah, Laura in She Loves You. Sharon is one half of the sketch duo Sexton and O Connor whose original work has appeared on RTE television.
Sharon trained at DIT’s Conservatory of Music and Drama, where she was awarded the showboat prize for best musical theatre performer and also holds an MA in directing from University College Dublin.

Fans of Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical are likely to be just a little bit excited to hear that Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler will be back as Sloane and Falco in a new UK tour of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell, opening at Manchester Opera House from 10-26 September 2020. They appear alongside new stars of the musical: Glenn Adamson as Strat and Martha Kirby as Raven.
