Richard grew up in the small village of Balsham in South Cambridgeshire.
After school and sixth form college he remained in Cambridgeshire where he completed his professional training in Performing Arts at Bodywork Company Dance Studios.
Since graduating Richard’s career has taken him all over the world, but closer to home his West End Theatre credits include;
Monsieur André in Phantom of the Opera (Her majesty's), u/s Galileo & Khashoggi in We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre), Grantaire/Factory Foreman & u/s Javert in Les Miserables (Queens Theatre), Bobo & u/s Electra in Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria), Marcos Cordoba & u/s Agon in La Cava (Victoria Palace & Piccadilly Theatre), Gus & u/s Tony Manero & Bobby C in Saturday Night Fever (London Palladium), Victor & u/s Munkustrap, Gus/Bustopher Jones & Old Deuteronomy in CATS (New London Theatre.)
Whilst on the road around Great Britain and Ireland, his touring Credits include; u/s Phantom in Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary production of The Phantom of the Opera, The Lover/Harmonica Player & u/s Captain Walker in The Who's, Tommy and Gad/The Butler in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat alongside Phillip Schofield.
After being in the final cast and closing year of the West End production of Starlight Express in 2001-2002, (which was resident in London for nearly 18 years,) Richard moved to Bochum to join the highly acclaimed German production where he played Electra for 3 years and then transitioned to Alternate Rusty, u/s Electra, Poppa Greaseball and Caboose for a further 2 years.
Further afield Richard embarked on an eight and a half month voyage aboard the luxurious six star cruise liner Seabourn Odysseywhere he was a Lead production vocalist touring South America, The Caribbean Islands and much of Europe.
He returned from Asia last year where he extensively toured; South Korea, Singapore and Macau in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS once again, this time playing Gus/Growltiger/Bustopher Jones.
He has just finished performing with, 'The West End In Concert' in The West End At Christmas where Richard and his fellow cast members bring a slice of 'The West End' back to the communities which supported and aided them on their road to becoming the performers they are today.
A highlight of his career (and something he will never forget) was performing in Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables at London’s O2 Arena.
Richard can be heard on the original cast recordings of Saturday Night Fever and La Cava as well on his much awaited debut album Because Of You.

As The Phantom of the Opera heads into its incredible 34th year in the West End, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh have announced that Australian singer and performer Josh Piterman will make his West End debut as The Phantom from 9 September 2019, with Britt Lenting as Carlotta Giudicelli and Richard Woodford as Monsieur André.
