Al and I had planned to record several numbers to upload to YouTube to try to draw attention to what a phenomenal talent he was. And a terrible perfectionist too; the tiniest slip and he would stop and insist we start again. Which is why this take ended up being incomplete. This last version was absolutely flawless and so beautiful, he had me in tears. I saw the camera battery run out but couldn't bear to stop him. I'm just so sad that the rest of this particular performance now exists only in my head. Sleep well. I love you so much.
