Paul Rider is an actor whose Musical Theatre credits include Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre. He previously played Amos in Chicago at the Adelphi and Cambridge Theatres. His recent theatre work includes A Woman of No Importance (Vaudeville), The Tempest, Cymbeline, Measure for Measure, Julius Caesar, The Duchess of Malfi, Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 and Henry V (Shakespeare’s Globe), and Wilbur in the UK Tour of Hairspray. His television credits include Dinnerladies, Victoria Wood with all the Trimmings, French and Saunders, The Catherine Tate Show and EastEnders. Films include Topsy-Turvy and A Cock and Bull Story.

On the day that Denise Van Outen was due to start rehearsals as Velma Kelly in Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre, it was discovered that she had suffered a stress fracture in her heel. Her replacement will be announced shortly as will dates for Van Outen’s return to the show.
