Megan Llewellyn

Megan studied at the RWCMD and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music where she won the Gilbert Betjemann Opera Prize, graduating with Distinction. Other prizes include The Mabel Linwood Christopher Prize, The John Ireland Prize and The Sir Geraint Evans Scholarship.

Extensive concert work includes Elijah, Messiah, Carmina Burana, Serenade to Music, Brahm’s Requiem, Mozart Mass in C Minor, Mozart Requiem and Rossini Petit Messe Sollenelle.

Opera Roles include Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann (Guildford Opera); Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutti ( Eastern Opera); Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos( St John’s Smith’s Square); Scenes from the Savoy (Opera Brava) as well as appearances with the D’Oyly Carte in HMS Pinafore at the Savoy and The Pirates of Penzance in the USA.

She joined Welsh National Opera in 2004 where she has performed the roles of Voice of Heaven (Don Carlos), Soloist in Carbon 12-A Choral Symphony,  Soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Bertha ( The Barber of Seville) Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Giannetta ( L’Elisir D’amore).

In Autumn 2011 she reprised her role of Bertha in The Barber of Seville with Mezzo Christine Rice. More recently she has been a soloist in the Artists of Welsh National Opera Tour where she sang Tippett’s Negro Spirituals. In 2012 she sang her first Wagner role, Ortlinde for The Wagner Society.
