Marisha Wallace made her West End debut playing Effie White in Dreamgirls (Savoy Theatre) after playing the role at the Tony-winning regional theatre Dallas Theater Center. Since landing in London she has played Becky in Waitress (Adelphi Theatre), performed in numerous concerts at The Royal Albert Hall, the London Palladium, and she’s a part of Broadway and West End Divas. She performed the role of Celie in The Color Purple in Concert at Cadogan Hall and had two sold out nights at Zedel. She will next play Motormouth in Hairspray (Coliseum). Marisha’s Broadway credits include the original Broadway productions of Something Rotten and Disney’s Aladdin, and she also appeared in the first US national tour of The Book of Mormon. Other stage credits include Sistas!, Aladdin (Toronto), Oklahoma!, for which she won the Drammy for Best Actress, One Night With Janis Joplin, Rent and Hair. Screen credits include Aladdin (the live action film), Disney’s Frozen Fever, The Tony Awards, Good Morning America, The View and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Have we got news for you. Paul Merton will make his West End musical debut as Wilbur Turnblad in Hairspray at the London Coliseum from 23 April to 30 August 2020, as full casting is announced. We can’t wait to see him strutting his stuff in the new production alongside his onstage wife, as played by Michael Ball who reprises his Olivier Award-winning role.
Evelyn Hoskins will be welcomed to the Waitress the musical diner, playing the role of Dawn, as we head into the New Year, while it’s also announced that original London cast member Marisha Wallace is going to be back as Becky in the West End production.
Casting for the West End production of Hairspray just got even more exciting as it was announced that Lizzie Bea & Marisha Wallace would be joining Michael Ball in the 2020 production at the London Coliseum.
