The year of Corona and, for me, the year to be still, listen to what is really my hearts desire and using that new found energy to drive me forward to look for brighter days to come. I am a black female. That means that when a dramatic shift happens in my cultural surroundings I feel it. Maybe its innate, maybe its ancestral, but I know that I feel it. I got tired of seeing all "those" videos. Frustrated at the sight of multiple families in turmoil. of hearing reports of yet another death going down with no justice. I just got tired So I use my gift to make hope or change. Even if in a tiny way. Thankyou to everyone that took part in this project. We made this together and I felt comforted by you all at that time. Cause when struggle happens, kindness and love are the only things we have to combat it all. I do not own the rights to this music....
Joshua is the 20 year old man with the mind of an 8 year old. Set in the mid 19th Century he and his younger sister Corin, 15, are in the thick of slavery. This is a short extract from the long feature that shows the struggle he goes through to understand the complexity of slavery with such a simple and beautiful outlook on life. Its also a metaphor for life. Whether you are religious or not, when things get you down, dig deep and surround yourself with good people to uplift yourself. Thank you to all those involved that made this happen. starring: https://www.youtube.com/user/ONeilDefinitives camera and editor https://www.youtube.com/user/CaptiveMedia11 Liza artistic director: http://www.studio3arts.org.uk/ costume and styling https://www.youtube.com/user/HairTheBeat Locations manager for seafields riding school: Sara Wilke Prosthetics and makeup design www.instagram.com/oh-martine_darling Song (which I do not hold the legal right too) Lauryn Hill and Tanya Blount "His eye is on the sparrow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7Pk5YMkEcg
Teamed up with the homie Jordan "J Funk" Franklin on this one. Tasks were to create a continuously moving piece that ended up creating the illusion that the camera is guiding us whilst other times we guide the camera. With a piece made in approximately 3 hours it was great training in creating dynamic choreo and pushing our connections within performance. Had great fun until the next one, "soon come innit!"
My new dance reel of my career starting from 2015
The first collaborative piece from THE VAULT PROJECT. THE VAULT - Learn-perfect-record all in one day. This project aims to help push dancers boundaries in getting them to work harder and faster at their dance craft. Hopefully, the theory is that the experience will get them ready for the wider world of commercialised Streetdance or Choreography videos in general.
