written and performed by Jade Anouka #AnoukaPoetry Filmed via live stream on Instagram with @Belmond x @PlatformPresents Wonder of You I wonder if you realise that I love you I wonder if you know just how much I wonder if you know when I’m not with you I yearn for your hand’s gentle touch I wonder if you see me in your future With smiles and with silly hair cuts I wonder if you’re thinking of me now As I wake up and I think of you I wonder if you’re aware that I smile When I see things that remind me off you I wonder if I’ve ever hurt you I know that i never want to I wonder if you ever leave me I wonder then what would I do I wonder if I that was too drastic But i wonder if you think that too And I wonder if you ever wonder of me Because you see my mind wanders When I’m in wonder of you.
#AnoukaPoetry Music instrumental of “Typical Savage” by Grace Savage Why Why do I have to live The way you say The colour of my skin Requires me to Why do I have to love The way my outside appearance Makes you believe That I should What do I have to act How I am told Others at my age Feel necessary Why do I have to hate The things you mention Held me back (I think they helped me fly) Why do I have to be The kind of person That’s determined to be Only what others think of me Why do I have to be anyone but me
#AnoukaPoetry Out of our arms That person That one That got away That missed their moment That what if That what would That we know That we hide That we can’t That one That never was That can no longer be That could have been brilliant That could never work That maybe shouldn’t have That never tried That always lied That kept away When they should stay That missed the mark That kissed the frogs That was the one That got away We never kissed We always missed We’ll always have What might’ve been If we’d have met At different times On different terms We could have learned Each other’s faults Instead of clinging To what if thoughts Or what it may Or could’ve been Or maybe still Or maybe might We’ve missed our plight To capture eyes And look inside And find our truth But now we know We’ve missed our show We’ve gone elsewhere Where our paths met With other behests We parallel live Never to meet To greet In secret Or exposed That’s the life We chose Unknowing But happy Out of Each other’s arms And in the arms Of our Significant others To not regretfully But thankfully Never to ever Fall into each other’s.

#AnoukaPoetry Penelopiad - A video poem by Jade Anouka and Sabrina Grant. Based on The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. Of Penelope's story from Homer's The Odyssey. Written and performed by Jade Anouka with Frances Lea, Anneka Harry, Cloudia Knight and Sabrina Grant Original music by Frances Lea Penelopiad First 5 came, then 50, 120! But what could I do? What could I say? I am just one woman, I can't make them go away. It was love, or so the story goes. Flattery disguised as unkindness, friends acting like foes. Then another 5, another 50, an extra 380! But I couldn't stop them coming, I couldn't make them not stay. I'm just a fragile human being, I've got to live each day by day. It was because of their desire, their passion, the supposed 'force of nature', That made them behave like animals, like sickly beastly creatures. A final 5? The last 50? A total 730? But. No more buts, I'll use my wit to succeed. No more oppressed female victim. I'll use my will power to achieve. To help me in this task I chose my four favourite maids. Kerthia, Narcissa, Selene and Melantho of the Pretty Cheeks, But though they promised me their faithfulness, They deceived me like, whores, no less. Then a mere man came and saved me, a hero concealed. And killed all in sight just as I, the woman, had willed. No more 50 or 380 or even maids to comfort me, But this is what I wanted, to be an independent woman, A mother and a wife, with just her husband and her son. Who needs maids? Who needs the hundreds? Who needs anyone but herself? Who wants love? Who wants comfort? Just shroud me with my wealth. I wrote this after performing in the original production of Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad with The Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada. Written and Performed by Jade Anouka #AnoukaPoetry Original music by Irene Ketikidi Directed and Edited by Sabrina Grant With Assistance from Anneka Harry www.AnoukaPoetry.com www.JadeAnouka.com My Time That moment That time in life Where time is life That unique time Where there's too much time Or not enough things to fill it. That time When you have all the time in the world And all that time's for keeps That bit of time before it's no longer yours Before your time is theirs... That special time A treasured time A time filled with possibilities A time when you don't keep time Because at that time It's time To say this time's mine This is my time.
Written and Performed by Jade Anouka #AnoukaPoetry Directed and Edited by Sabrina Grant With Assistance from Anneka Harry www.jadeanouk9.wix.com/anoukapoetry & http://anoukapoetry.blogspot.co.uk/ FORGET Your legs turn to liquid Feet weigh a tonne There's a firework show in your belly. Your hands turn to stumps Eyes sting from the light And elephants dance on your forehead. The drugs are next door The water's much further But you attempt and your brought to the floor. The world just went dark There's a bump on your head Yet you get up an attempt the next step. A loud noise is heard Something has fallen You open your eyes and realise that it's you. You're tired exhausted More than ever before And decide that it's now time to rest. So you let your lids close You relax every muscle And forget to take your last breath.
