The Olivier Awards are a big highlight of the theatre calendar so it was disappointing, though understandable, when the event was cancelled. Now, there’s a chance to celebrate all the ceremonies that have come before in a special programme, Olivier Awards – Greatest Moments, to be broadcast on ITV in the awards’ original slot, 10.15pm on 5 April 2020. Now, that’s something to look forward to.

A Doctor and a Queen, namely Waitress’ Gavin Creel and Six The Musical’s Alexia McIntosh, were on hand today to announce the 2020 Olivier Awards nominations, just a month before the ceremony takes place on 5 April at the Royal Albert Hall. So now the celebrations have begun, particularly in the & Juliet, Fiddler On The Roof, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins camps, all of which have received plenty of love from the nominating panel. So who are you hoping leaves with the big prizes on the day?

So the big day has arrived. Olivier Awards rehearsals have been taking place at the Royal Albert Hall, the set is beginning to take shape, all the nominees are picking out their sparkly outfits and the nerves are growing. StageFaves has a look at the build-up on Twitter so far.

It's been a hell of a West End opening for COME FROM AWAY! The Broadway transfer flew into London after a run in Ireland and now it's nominated an astonishing NINE TIMES!!! In case you needed reminding why, Rachel Tucker (who is herself nominated for Best Actress in a supporting role) teamed up with social media star Doug Armstrong for a lovely acoustic medley and a chat about the show...

An unexpected hit when it originally opened on Broadway, COME FROM AWAY has flown the coop, finally landing in London's West End. Needless to say, this heartwarming new musical about the triumph of humanity in the face of tremendous evil stole the hearts of UK audiences as much as across the Atlantic. Nominated for a series of the biggest honours at this year's Olivier Awards, fans and critics alike would no doubt love to see it scoop some accolades. The rain was never going to deter #StageFaves vlogger Perry O'Bree on the 2018 Olivier Awards red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall. In addition to this year's two-time nominee and all-round legend Imelda Staunton, he also caught up with stars from Hamilton, Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Bat Out Of Hell. See who you can spot!

HAMILTON was the night's biggest winner at this year's Olivier Awards, taking home seven prizes in total including Best New Musical. But in the performance categories, it split down the middle between men from Hamilton and women from Bob Dylan hit GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY. The National Theatre's revival of FOLLIES also took two awards, including Best Musical Revival.

As the big night looms, there is plenty to enjoy in the final episode of the Olivier Awards’ Facebook series, with appearances from Janie Dee, Elaine Paige and, of course, Perry!
