A Doctor and a Queen, namely Waitress’ Gavin Creel and Six The Musical’s Alexia McIntosh, were on hand today to announce the 2020 Olivier Awards nominations, just a month before the ceremony takes place on 5 April at the Royal Albert Hall. So now the celebrations have begun, particularly in the & Juliet, Fiddler On The Roof, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins camps, all of which have received plenty of love from the nominating panel. Now she is heading back in July 2019 for Trevor Nunn’s UK premiere production of Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman’s musical The Bridges of Madison County. So who will be her Clint Eastwood?
It’s taken a while to travel across the pond, but now Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman’s Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Robert James Waller’s bestselling novel The Bridges of Madison County will have its European premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 12 July to 14 September 2019, directed by Trevor Nunn. It could be a bit of a tearfest.
From 18 June 2019 the new Golde and Yente in Trevor Nunn’s West End production of Fiddler on the Roof, a transfer from the Menier Chocolate Factory, will be Maria Friedman and Anita Dobson, taking over from Judy Kuhn and Louise Gold respectively. The matches have been made and the performers chosen to join Andy Nyman and Judy Kuhn in the West End transfer of Menier Chocolate Factory’s Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Trevor Nunn and playing at a reconfigured Playhouse Theatre from 21 March until 15 June 2019.
