2020
We are taking a moment to step away from all the current stories of theatre closures to seek some distraction in celebrating legendary composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s 90th birthday. So we’ve picked FIVE of our favourite performances from previous concerts, from the divine Barbara Cook’s rendition of ‘Losing My Mind’ to Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters giving an iconic rendition of ‘Move On’ from Sunday In The Park With George. Oh, and Patti LuPone, Elaine Stritch and Simon Russell Beale might make an appearance too. Hope you enjoy and do let us know your favourites too.

Open Air Theatre Regent’s Park’s awesome staging of Jesus Christ Superstar was a sell-out in 2016 and 2017. Now the iconic musical (Pope Francis is a fan) is on its way back, transferring to the Barbican Theatre for 60 performances from 4 July to 24 August 2019. So what do you think of the new trailer?
2018
Even after two hugely successful seasons in 2016 and 2017, it was still hard to say our farewells to Regent’s Park’s memorable staging of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Chris Superstar. Now we are looking forward to welcoming it back next year when it transfers to the Barbican Theatre for 60 performances from 4 July to 24 August.
It was smiles all round as The Stage Debut Awards 2018 recognised breakthrough talent in the shape of Amara Okereke, the first actress of colour to play the role of Cosette, Louis Gaunt for his performance in Grange Park Opera’s Oklahoma! and composer Gus Gowland for his show Pieces of String at Mercury Theatre, Chichester. Have you seen any of their work?
