There are some theatre productions, both big and small, that aren’t going to make it through the current shutdown and we’re sad to report that when London Theatreland gets back to some kind of normal Waitress will be missing.

Evelyn Hoskins will be welcomed to the Waitress the musical diner, playing the role of Dawn, as we head into the New Year, while it’s also announced that original London cast member Marisha Wallace is going to be back as Becky in the West End production.

Best known for his performances in Falsettos, School of Rock and Funny Girl, actor Joel Montague will take over the role of Ogie from Joe Sugg in the London production of Waitress, beginning on 2 December 2019.

How often does the writer of a show perform the lead role in their own musical and make their West End debut at the same time? Well, that is exactly what Sara Bareilles is going to do when she plays Jenna in the London production of Waitress for six weeks from 27 January to 7 March 2020. And just look who is going to perform opposite her as Dr Pomatter, it’s only Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Gavin Creel.

Best known recently for her role in ITV’s Emmerdale, actress Sandra Marvin is the latest addition to the cast of West End musical Waitress, taking over as waitress Becky from original cast member Marisha Wallace. Her first performance at the Adelphi Theatre diner is on 17 October 2019.

With credits already including the UK and international tour of Mamma Mia! and Australian productions of Les Misérables and The Sound of Music, Tamlyn Henderson is not short of credentials when it comes to musical theatre. On 9 September 2019 he joins the West End cast of of Sara Bareilles’ musical Waitress in the role of Earl, taking over from Peter Hannah who has his final performance on 7 September. Let’s hope he likes pie!

Joe Sugg has made his name as a YouTube star, filmmaker, author, vlogger and 2018 Strictly Come Dancing finalist, but now he will be making his stage debut in Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre from 9 September 2019, taking over the role of Ogie from Blake Harrison who leaves on 7 September.

Sara Bareilles has often spoken about the amount of music that had to be cut before the final version of Waitress made it to Broadway. Now fans of the show are going to get to hear ‘What’s Not Inside: The Lost Songs from Waitress’, a new EP featuring outtakes and demos recorded by Sara Bareilles. Below you can watch Jeremy Jordan singing the song ‘Without A Believer’ from the seven-track recording set for release on Friday 16 August.

He’s best known as Neil Sutherland in the award-winning E4 show The Inbetweeners, but now Blake Harrison is swapping the small screen for the West End production of Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre in what we think is his musical theatre debut, stepping into the role of Ogie on 17 June 2019 after Jack McBrayer plays his final performance.
It’s amazing what a little baking can do: Former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts will be making her West End debut as Dawn in Waitress at London’s Adelphi Theatre for a limited summer season from 17 June 2019, and on the same date we’re pretty excited to hear that Lucie Jones will be cooking up those life-changing pies as Jenna. Sugar, butter, flour and a whole lot more.
It’s been confirmed that Katharine McPhee will be putting her apron down and bidding farewell to the West End production of Sara Bareilles’ musical Waitress on 15 June 2019. Cue speculation about who will replace her. There are rumours that Lucie Jones is next in line, but we shall have to wait and see!

Our #FirstNightTakeover series continues with Perry O’Bree attending the West End opening of the delicious WAITRESS at the Adelphi Theatre. Perry was there on the Red Carpet – rubbing shoulders with Carrie Hope Fletcher and Cuba Gooding Jr – plus post-show there was a chance to chat to cast members Peter Hannah and Shaun Prendergast. And did we mention Perry squeezed in meeting awesome Waitress composer Sara Bareilles too? It’s amazing what a little baking can do.

Theatre lovers who have always dreamt of singing on the West End stage will soon be able to make their dream a reality when ‘Cast Album Karaoke’ nights are held post-show on 19 February and 18 March 2019 at the London production of Sara Bareilles’ Waitress. Audience members just need to sign up in the theatre before the performance. Are you tempted?
