Bring It On The Musical will play a London season at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall from 9 December 2020 to 10 January 2021, following a UK and Ireland tour which opens at the Birmingham Hippodrome on 2 June 2020.
A Doctor and a Queen, namely Waitress’ Gavin Creel and Six The Musical’s Alexia McIntosh, were on hand today to announce the 2020 Olivier Awards nominations, just a month before the ceremony takes place on 5 April at the Royal Albert Hall. So now the celebrations have begun, particularly in the & Juliet, Fiddler On The Roof, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins camps, all of which have received plenty of love from the nominating panel. Following its success at the Open Air Theatre, Jamie Lloyd’s fresh interpretation of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita will transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre for just eight weeks in the summer of 2020.

Fresh from his success directing Ain’t Misbehavin’ at Southwark Playhouse, Tyrone Huntley will be back in the spotlight, playing the role of Wes in the European premiere of new LGBTQ+ musical The View Upstairs, previewing from 18 July 2019 at London’s Soho Theatre. With Andy Mientus, Declan Bennett, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Cedric Neal and John Partridge already in the line-up, it’s turning into quite a cast!
While some commentators might have guessed that Six the Musical would be a big winner at the Offies 2019 Awards presented by Off West End, it was The Rink at Southwark Playhouse that ended the evening with a count of five gongs, including a double whammy win for actresses Gemma Sutton and Caroline O’Connor.
