Save the last dance for Beverley Knight because she will be starring as Faye Treadwell, the legendary manager of one of the world’s greatest vocal groups, The Drifters, in the world premiere of The Drifters Girl, opening for a short season at Newcastle Theatre Royal in September 2020 before transferring to London’s Garrick Theatre the following month.

Following its success at the Open Air Theatre, Jamie Lloyd’s fresh interpretation of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita will transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre for just eight weeks in the summer of 2020.

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced further casting for Matthew White’s revival of Sandy Wilson’s The Boy Friend as the company begin rehearsals.
There was so much love online for Joe Iconis’ Be More Chill score in 2018 that he creatives brought it back, first Off-Broadway and then for a run on the Great White Way. Now the show which boasts a Tony-nominated score is transferring to London’s The Other Palace, with the UK premiere production running from 12 February to 3 May 2020. Get ready because the Squips are coming.

Stiles and Drewe and Elliot Davis’ musical Soho Cinders, a deliciously naughty satirical twist on the Cinderella fairy tale, will have a nine-week run at London’s Charing Cross Theatre.
It’s a dream come true for fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with news that the recent hit production will return to the London Palladium in July 2020 for a 10-week season.

Ready to step in time? The classroom calls once again for Layton Williams as Jamie New and EastEnders’ Shane Richie as Hugo/Loco Chanelle with news that the ever-popular West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is embarking on its first UK tour in 2020.
They dreamed a dream of performing in the West End and it has come true for Brit School graduate Shan Ako & the Royal Academy of Music’s Lily Kerhoas as they take on the roles of Eponine and Cosette alongside a star-studded cast in Les Misérables – The Staged Concert, running at London’s Gielgud Theatre from 10 August to 30 November 2019.
Dreams really do come true when you believe. We’re excited to hear the first casting news for Stephen Schwartz and Philip LaZebnik’s stage musical The Prince Of Egypt, having its West End premiere at London’s Dominion Theatre from 5 February to 12 September 2020. Leading the cast as Moses and Ramses will be Luke Brady and Liam Tamne and they will be joined by Christine Allado and Alexia Khadime, in the roles of Tzipporah and Miriam.

If you are a fan of Sister Act, then producers Jamie Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg have answered your prayers with the announcement that a reworked version starring Brenda Edwards will open at Curve Leicester on 21 April 2020 ahead of further regional dates and a London season. Hallelujah!

Our #FirstNightTakeover series continues with Perry O’Bree attending the West End opening night of The Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ The Musical at the Ambassadors Theatre. Described by one cast member as ‘the Pixar of British stage musicals’, Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary’s inspiring show gives Perry goosebumps so he is thrilled to catch up several members of the cast: both the grown-ups and children. Will the musical be a big hit? Perry thinks so!
Great Scott! It was and remains a classic movie from the 1980s and now it’s going to be reinvented as a stage musical. Grab your hoverboard because Back To The Future The Musical is introducing itself at the Manchester Opera House on 20 February 2020 for a 12-week season before the cast (including Olly Dobson as Marty) and crew squeeze into the DeLorean to travel to the West End.

Did you hear that Bronté Barbé, Isaac Gryn, Emmanuel Kojo and Scott Karim will be joining the company of Oklahoma! at Chichester Festival Theatre from 15 July to 7 September 2019, playing the roles of Ado Annie, Will Parker, Jud and Ali Hakim. Sounds like a beautiful day to us.
Is there a pattern emerging? First Michael Ball returns to Les Misérables to play Javert, now Jason Donovan will return to the London Palladium in the new production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to star as the Pharaoh, 28 years after he triumphed in the title role at the same theatre. No loincloth this time though!

It’s bitter sweet for producer Danielle Tarento as she brings the late Michel Legrand’s five-time Tony-nominated musical Amour – a musical fantasy about daring to dream and the power of self belief – to the Charing Cross Theatre from 2 May to 20 July 2019. She hopes the production will be ‘a fitting tribute to this extraordinary man’.
