It’s hard to believe but a decade has passed since Stephen Clark and Howard Goodall’s musical adaptation of Erich Segal’s novel Love Story premiered at Chichester Festival Theatre before a run at the West End’s Duchess Theatre. To mark the anniversary, original cast members Michael D. Xavier, Emma Williams and Peter Polycarpou will star in a special concert at the Cadogan Hall on 17 May 2020.
It began on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017 & now Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ ‘her-story’ has just opened in Sydney, has its Broadway debut in February, is currently touring the UK, and as celebrations begin for its first birthday at London’s Arts Theatre, the West End run has just been extended until 31 January 2021. It’s a musical theatre fairy tale like no other.

Louise Redknapp and Brian Conley are West End bound as they return to play Violet Newstead and Franklin Hart Jnr respectively in Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5 The Musical at London’s Savoy Theatre. Louise is back from 10 February 2020 and Brian makes his entrance on 2 March.
Did you hear that Gander is going to be welcoming (via London’s Phoenix Theatre) a bunch of new members of the Come From Away community from 10 February 2020 as the award-winning musical begins its second year in the West End? Surely a return visit is in order.

Acclaimed for his performance in Fiddler on the Roof, Andy Nyman is the latest member of the West End Hello, Dolly cast to be announced. He will star alongside Imelda Staunton in the title role and Jenna Russell as Irene Molloy in the show at the Adelphi Theatre, opening on 11 August 2020.

It’s not been smooth running when it comes to the role of Thénardier in the new production of Les Misérables at London’s Sondheim Theatre. After doctors telling actor Gerard Carey he must rest his voice until the end of February, Matt Lucas saved the day by reprising the part but has now suffered a back injury. Cue the arrival of Ian Hughes who recently played Thénardier to great acclaim in the current sell-out UK and international tour. Phew!

Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton will be reunited with his Rock Of Ages co-star Rhiannon Chesterman when The Wedding Singer plays a limited season at London’s newly opened Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 30 January until 1 March 2020.
Rehearsals begin this week for Pretty Woman: The Musical, opening at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on 13 February 2020, so it’s the perfect time to share the news of full casting for the show. Aimie Atkinson and Danny Mac, playing the roles of Vivian and Edward, will be joined by Rachael Wooding, Bob Harms, Neil McDermott and Mark Holden. We have to go shopping now...

It will be popular Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Kevin Clifton playing the lead role of Robbie Hart in the stage musical version of The Wedding Singer when it arrives at the newly opened Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 30 January to 1 March 2020.
What a trouper Matt Lucas is. Having heard that Gerard Carey, originally playing Thénardier in Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, had been taken ill, he rescheduled his Christmas plans and stepped into the breach. Lucas will be Master of the House for six weeks from 23 December 2019 with Carey expected to return on 3 February 2020.

Evelyn Hoskins will be welcomed to the Waitress the musical diner, playing the role of Dawn, as we head into the New Year, while it’s also announced that original London cast member Marisha Wallace is going to be back as Becky in the West End production.
There will be a new Queen in town when Sophie Isaacs is crowned the next Katherine Howard in the West End production of Six The Musical at the Arts Theatre from 21 January 2020.
Fresh from its success at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, Joseph Stein, Stephen Schwartz and Charles Strouse’s heart-warming and powerful show RAGS The Musical will transfer to London’s Park Theatre from 9 January to 8 February 2020, with Carolyn Maitland, Dave Willetts and Sam Attwater leading the cast as Rebecca, Avram and Bronfman respectively.
We want the fairy tale when Pretty Woman: The Musical opens for a 46-week season on 13 February 2020 and we now know that it will be Aimie Atkinson as Vivian and Danny Mac as Edward who will be bringing it to London’s Piccadilly Theatre.

Sleepless in Seattle-inspired musical receives world premiere at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre
SLEEPLESS, A Musical Romance, based on the original screenplay Sleepless in Seattle, will premiere in London on 31 March 2020 at London’s newly opened Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Three special preview performances in December 2019 will star Michael D Xavier and Kimberley Walsh.

There’s a new Miss Hedge in town from 17 November 2019 when actress, singer and radio presenter Preeya Kalidas joins the West End cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, plus we are thrilled to see that Roy Haylock, best known as his drag alter ego Bianca Del Rio, will reprise the role of Hugo/Loco Chanelle from 9 December.
