Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton will be reunited with his Rock Of Ages co-star Rhiannon Chesterman when The Wedding Singer plays a limited season at London’s newly opened Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 30 January until 1 March 2020.
After receiving acclaim for their performances as Joseph and the Pharaoh in the new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium this year, Jac Yarrow and Jason Donovan will return for the 10-week season in 2020.

Following its success at the Open Air Theatre, Jamie Lloyd’s fresh interpretation of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita will transfer to London’s Barbican Theatre for just eight weeks in the summer of 2020.

You couldn’t make it up. Not only is ArtsEd graduate Jac Yarrow making his professional stage debut in the West End, he is doing so at the London Palladium, alongside Sheridan Smith and Jason Donovan, while playing one of the most iconic roles in musical theatre. For Jac is living the dream by playing the lead in the new production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, opening at the London Palladium in June 2019.
Is there a pattern emerging? First Michael Ball returns to Les Misérables to play Javert, now Jason Donovan will return to the London Palladium in the new production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to star as the Pharaoh, 28 years after he triumphed in the title role at the same theatre. No loincloth this time though!
Sheridan Smith has busy winning acclaim for her television work, but the Olivier Award-winning actress’ performances onstage have always been popular too (not least in the musicals Legally Blonde and Funny Girl). Even after two hugely successful seasons in 2016 and 2017, it was still hard to say our farewells to Regent’s Park’s memorable staging of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Chris Superstar. Now we are looking forward to welcoming it back next year when it transfers to the Barbican Theatre for 60 performances from 4 July to 24 August.

Southwark Playhouse could never be accused of not championing musicals including productions of new work. Next year’s season will see the transfer Aspects of Love from Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester; the one-man musical Stay Awake, Jake in its first full-length run and the world premiere of new musical The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. A trio of treats!
Cast changes see Hayden Tee playing Miss Trunchbull alongside Rob Compton and Holly Dale Spencer as Mr and Mrs Wormwood in the RSC’s Matilda The Musical with Gina Beck continuing as Miss Honey. There are also two new Matildas joining the cast, but where have they got to?
