Composers are being asked to write ‘A Song for our Time’, an original song to be recorded by West End stars and a huge virtual choir with all proceeds going to Acting For Others. The final song will be chosen by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown.
A Doctor and a Queen, namely Waitress’ Gavin Creel and Six The Musical’s Alexia McIntosh, were on hand today to announce the 2020 Olivier Awards nominations, just a month before the ceremony takes place on 5 April at the Royal Albert Hall. So now the celebrations have begun, particularly in the & Juliet, Fiddler On The Roof, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins camps, all of which have received plenty of love from the nominating panel. So who are you hoping leaves with the big prizes on the day?

Paul Taylor-Mills’ plans for MT Fest UK, a two-week festival of new musical theatre, already sounded exciting, but a bonus comes in the shape of Night Caps, an informal late-night concerts series as part of the event featuring some of the country’s eminent musical theatre stars.
If it isn’t exciting enough that the Fats Waller musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ is being revived at Southwark Playhouse from 19 April to 1 June 2019, following its premiere at Mercury Theatre Colchester from 15-30 March, just look which artists are making their debuts as director and theatre choreographer. It’s only Tyrone Huntley and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse. We think the joint is going to be jumpin!
