Our #FirstNightTakeover series continues with Perry O’Bree attending the opening of The Prince Of Egypt at London’s Dominion Theatre. In the same week that the run of this epic production was extended by seven weeks, until 21 October 2020, Perry was busy catching up with the stars on the Red Carpet (Kerry Ellis, Jay McGuiness, Elaine Paige) as well as the creative team, including legendary composer Stephen Schwartz and his son Scott, the show’s director.

Fans of Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical are likely to be just a little bit excited to hear that Sharon Sexton and Rob Fowler will be back as Sloane and Falco in a new UK tour of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell, opening at Manchester Opera House from 10-26 September 2020. They appear alongside new stars of the musical: Glenn Adamson as Strat and Martha Kirby as Raven.

After the success of its transfer of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, still running in the West End, Sheffield Crucible will bring another award-winning musical premiere to London next year. Standing at the Sky’s Edge will transfer to the National Theatre’s Olivier in January 2021, following a return to Sheffield this autumn.
In the upcoming revival of classic Broadway fairytale Once Upon a Mattress, Beth Burrows stars as Princess Winnifred. It's a role that's famously been played by American comedy legend Carol Burnett, Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker and Hollywood's Zooey Deschanel. Watch them in action!

Everybody obviously did say ‘yeah’ when invited along to More2Screen’s cinema release of Kinky Boots The Musical because the screenings have so far brought in £1.2 million at the box office to date AND it was the No. 1 film on 4 February 2020. So who were the musical theatre winners at one of the best loved events in the theatre awards calendar, the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards? Step forward the much loved West End production of Come From Away, Most Promising Newcomer Sam Tutty for his Dear Evan Hansen debut and Best Director Jamie Lloyd who was recognised for three of his shows, including Evita at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
