The Tony Award-winning musical from the writers of South Park comes to the West End.
Written by the animated sitcom’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone along with Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, The Book Of Mormon is a satirical musical that takes shots at everything from organised religion to consumerism, the state of the economy and the musical theatre genre itself.
Set in a small town in Uganda, the controversial and hilarious show tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries who are bringing the news of the Latter Day saints to local villagers.
Shocked at the cultural divide, the duo must battle to share the scriptures with the local people, who are more concerned with war, famine, poverty and AIDS than religion.
Featuring the songs 'Spooky Mormon Hell Dream', 'I Am Africa', 'Baptize Me', 'All American Prophet' and 'Tomorrow Is A Latter Day', the musical, which won nine Tony Awards after opening at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill’s Theatre in 2011, is brought to the West End by the original creative team.
